Philosophy of Care
Dr. Anastasia Jones, PsyD (she/her)
I am Dr. Anastasia Jones, PsyD, a licensed sports psychologist in Portland, Oregon providing therapy and performance psychology services for athletes and high performers throughout Oregon and Washington.
As a former Division III collegiate basketball player, I understand firsthand the mental demands of competition, leadership, injury, and performance pressure. I continue to challenge myself athletically today including finishing in the 2025 Ironman Women’s World Championship in Kona. These experiences shape the way I work with athletes and high performers by grounding my clinical expertise in lived performance experience.
While in college, I uncovered the profound intersection of my passion for sports and a deep-seated desire to empower individuals. This pivotal realization has guided my path ever since. Witnessing my clients achieve their goals, whether in the realm of athletics, personal development, or both, gives me a sense of fulfillment that is truly unparalleled.
Professionally, I specialize in performance anxiety, confidence development, focus enhancement, and mental resilience. I also provide psychotherapy for anxiety, OCD, life transitions, identity development, and multicultural concerns using evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Solution-Focused Therapy.
My approach is collaborative, practical, and individualized. My goal is to help you strengthen your mental edge in sport while building balance and wellbeing in everyday life.
Your potential is boundless; let’s unlock it together.
Background
I bring extensive experience working with athletes across a range of sports and competitive levels. I currently serve as Consulting Team Psychologist for the Rip City Remix and am listed on the Mental Health Registry for the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee. My professional experience includes work in collegiate athletic environments, and I now provide sport psychology and therapy services through private practice in Portland, Oregon.
While I specialize in supporting athletes and high performers, my practice also includes adults seeking therapy for anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), identity development, and life transitions. I am especially attuned to concerns related to race, gender, and cultural identity.
Having lived in multiple countries and states, I value the diverse backgrounds and experiences my clients bring into therapy. I strive to create an inclusive, respectful space where individuals of all identities feel supported in their growth and performance goals.

Sport Psychology
Sport psychology focuses on strengthening the mental skills that influence athletic performance, confidence, and resilience. As a sports psychologist in Portland, Oregon, I work with athletes and high performers to develop practical strategies that improve focus, manage performance anxiety, and build consistency under pressure.
In addition to enhancing performance, I support athletes experiencing anxiety, depression, burnout, injury recovery challenges, and major life transitions. Mental health and performance are closely connected, and addressing both is essential for long-term success in sport and life.
My sport psychology work includes:
Enhancing Performance: Mental skills training to improve focus, confidence, motivation, and competitive mindset. Techniques may include visualization, goal setting, mindfulness, and performance routines tailored to your sport.
Managing Performance Anxiety: Evidence-based strategies to reduce fear of failure, overthinking, and pressure-related stress that interfere with competition.
Injury Recovery Support: Psychological tools to navigate the emotional and mental challenges of injury and return-to-play.
Life & Career Transitions: Guidance for athletes adjusting to new levels of competition, retirement, role changes, or identity shifts outside of sport.
My goal is to help athletes in Portland and throughout Oregon build sustainable mental strength so they can perform with clarity, confidence, and balance.
